Podcast: "Reimagining Digital Sovereignty in Africa for Data Centres"
Introduction:
Welcome to this episode of the Deep Dive, where we explore the frontiers of Africa's digital transformation. In today’s conversation, we shift the lens from passive consumption to active creation — unpacking how the continent is positioning itself not just as a user, but as the architect of its own digital destiny. This episode delves into the evolving landscape of cloud computing and data centre infrastructure, revealing a bold vision: a digitally sovereign Africa that owns and governs its data, defines its digital pathways, and shapes its technological future.
Smart Africa Youth Chapter – South Africa is a national initiative under the Smart Africa Digital Academy (SADA), specifically the SADA4Youth program. This launch webinar aims to introduce the Chapter to empower young South Africans to actively shape the digital transformation of their country and the continent. Through structured engagements, policy dialogues, leadership development, and digital skills programs, the Chapter connects youth with decision-makers and industry leaders. Participants gain practical exposure to digital innovation, policy advocacy, and entrepreneurship, equipping them to contribute meaningfully to national tech agendas. By the end of the launch, participants will have a clear understanding of the Chapter’s purpose, structure, and how to get involved.
