Most decision-makers struggle with AI not because the technology is beyond them, but because they are asked to govern a system they have never seen the inside of: judging vendor claims, procurement choices, and risks through a black box. This course opens that box. It gives you a working, non-technical understanding of how AI actually learns and decides, so your policy authority is matched by the capacity to interrogate the systems you oversee.

The curriculum begins with what AI is and the difference between narrow, general, and super intelligence, then opens up the core mechanisms of modern AI, including artificial neural networks, machine learning, deep learning, and natural language processing. It then grounds that knowledge in Africa's specific context, examining the economic potential and sectoral applications of AI in agriculture, healthcare, and governance, and the capacity-building and governance choices that decide whether the continent participates in AI on its own terms.
