Welcome to your course on Guidelines for Data Protection and Privacy!
Data has become the foundation of Africa's digital economy, but without strong protection it quickly turns into a source of risk for citizens and institutions alike. This course gives policymakers, regulators, and public sector leaders a clear, practical grounding in data protection law and practice, anchored in African examples and aligned with continental instruments such as the Malabo Convention.
Across four focused modules you will explore the foundations of data protection - privacy as a right and Africa's evolving legislative landscape - then move into the core principles and data subject rights, the role and independence of Data Protection Authorities, and the harmonisation and cross-border data flow mechanisms that connect national regimes. The course closes with a wrap-up and a final assessment drawn from across the four modules.
