Welcome to your course on Building ICT Capacity in Africa's Education System!
This course is designed for curriculum developers, education officials, and ICT-in-education leaders who want to build lasting ICT capacity across an education system. Most ICT-in-education efforts fail not because the schools lacked devices, but because the hardware arrived with no curriculum, no trained teachers, and no clear sense of which approach it was even pursuing. This course flips that around: it treats the curriculum as the real lever, ties every recommendation to its stakeholders and preconditions, and gives you a structure you can adapt to your own context rather than a programme to copy.
The curriculum sets out why the curriculum is the lever that carries knowledge, skills and values into a digital age, then turns to the TVET sector and the six levers that strengthen it. It works through seven recommendations for building ICT capacity, each as stakeholders, context, strategies and preconditions, and puts them into practice through four higher-education interventions in sequence and two rural case studies. It closes with a readiness self-check and an ungraded project, designed so you can act on ICT capacity without repeating the mistakes of programmes that bought hardware no one was ready to use.
By mastering these concepts, you will be equipped to design and lead an ICT capacity strategy that works through the curriculum, strengthens TVET, sequences its interventions in the right order, and is grounded in the stakeholders, context and preconditions of your own education system.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Explain why the curriculum is the lever for building ICT capacity in schools, and distinguish the three approaches to building it.
- Apply the six levers that turn an under-resourced TVET sector into an engine for development.
- Analyse the seven recommendations through their stakeholders, context, strategies and preconditions.
- Evaluate a higher-education digital transformation by sequencing its four interventions and grounding them in your own context.
Who is this course for?
This course is designed for curriculum developers, education officials, and ICT-in-education leaders across Africa. It is highly beneficial for individuals who are:
- Responsible for curriculum, education policy, or ICT capacity in schools, TVET or higher education.
- Involved in designing or delivering ICT integration, teacher training, or digital transformation programmes.
- Seeking to build ICT capacity that is grounded in real preconditions and adapted to their own local context.

Welcome to your course on Empowering Africa Through ICT Skills Development!
This course is designed for policymakers, education officials, ICT regulators and programme managers who want to develop ICT skills at scale and close the digital divide across Africa. Most ICT skills programmes fail not because the ambition was wrong, but because they were built for infrastructure that was not yet there, copied from a context that did not match, or scaled before the basics were in place. This course flips that around. It starts with what you actually have, reads each setting honestly against its peers, and matches the response to the gap that is really holding progress back.
The curriculum reads the African landscape through a five-cluster framework and the six challenges the clusters share, then works through five recommendations for an enabling ICT environment, each with its stakeholders, strategies and preconditions. It weighs affordable low-tech solutions that reach learners the internet cannot, and studies Pix, a real cross-border digital-skills platform, as a working model. Two principles run throughout: start with what you have, and promote regional collaboration.
By mastering these concepts, you will be equipped to locate your context among the clusters, name the challenge that binds it, apply the enabling-environment recommendations and low-tech solutions, and design a concrete ICT skills plan grounded in your own local context.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Explain why developing ICT skills is pivotal to policy and to closing the digital divide in Africa.
- Analyse the African ICT-skills landscape through the five-cluster framework and the six shared challenges.
- Apply the five recommendations for an enabling ICT environment, and affordable low-tech solutions, within your localised context.
- Investigate how to create an enabling environment and close the digital divide, drawing on a working cross-border case.
Who is this course for?
This course is designed for policymakers, education officials, ICT regulators and programme managers across Africa. It is highly beneficial for individuals who are:
- Involved in ICT-in-education policy, digital skills strategy, or programme design and delivery.
- Seeking to build an enabling environment that closes the digital divide in their context.
- Responsible for aligning skills and education policy with national digital strategy and regional collaboration.

Welcome to your course on Soft Skills for Digital Transformation!
This course is designed for leaders, managers, project leads and ICT staff across Africa who are planning, leading or supporting a digital transformation. Most transformations fail not because the technology was wrong, but because they were run as a systems project when the real challenge was a people one: tools were installed, while the human side of change went unled. A soft skills approach flips that around. It treats leadership, communication and adaptability as the engine of change rather than an afterthought, and builds the human capabilities that let new technology actually take root.
The curriculum opens by defining digital transformation and its four types, illustrated by the Netflix case, then names the seven essential soft skills that carry change, from communication and collaboration to adaptability, emotional intelligence and innovation. You will then work through a three-stage method to assess, build and measure those skills, before turning to leadership and change management, four styles suited to transformation, the five principles of change, and the culture and growth mindset that make it durable, with the Tim Cook case.
By mastering these concepts, you will be equipped to lead the human side of a digital transformation, develop the soft skills your organisation depends on, and align leadership, change management and culture behind a change that lasts, in your own context.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Explain what digital transformation is, distinguish its four types, and recognise its impact on an organisation.
- Identify the seven essential soft skills for digital transformation and the human challenge of change that each one answers.
- Apply a three-stage method to assess your organisation's soft skills, build a development roadmap, and measure the impact with KPIs.
- Match a leadership style to a transformation, apply the principles of change management, and foster a culture of innovation and a growth mindset.
Who is this course for?
This course is designed for leaders, managers, project leads and ICT staff across Africa who are planning, leading or supporting a digital transformation. It is highly beneficial for individuals who are:
- Responsible for leading teams or an organisation through digital change.
- Seeking to assess and develop the soft skills that determine whether transformation succeeds.
- Looking to align leadership style, change management and culture with a digital transformation effort.

Welcome to your course on Managing Digital Transformation Projects within Businesses!
This course is designed for managers, project leads, and public-sector officials who must run digital transformation projects that genuinely change how a business works. Most transformation projects fail not because the technology was wrong, but because they led with the tool instead of the goals and the people it was meant to serve. A managed approach flips that around: it names the pressure forcing the change, defines the business goals first, matches the right digital solution to the real problem, and treats the people through the change as the project, not an afterthought.
The curriculum opens with the drivers of digital transformation and what a managed response to each one looks like, then shows how to match digital solutions to real business pressures rather than buying technology and hoping. You will work through how to align a digital strategy with business goals, and finish with the four project stages of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation, with change management running through all of them.
By mastering these concepts, you will be equipped to read the forces acting on a business, choose the digital response that fits, and plan a staged transformation project that changes how work is done, in your own organisation.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Identify the main drivers that push a business to transform and the managed response each one calls for.
- Match the right digital solution to a specific business pressure rather than adopting technology for its own sake.
- Align a digital strategy with the goals the business is actually trying to achieve.
- Plan a transformation project across the four stages of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation, with change management built in.
Who is this course for?
This course is designed for business managers, project leads, and public-sector officials across Africa. It is highly beneficial for individuals who are:
- Responsible for planning or leading a digital transformation within their organisation.
- Choosing digital solutions and needing to tie each one to a clear business goal.
- Managing the people side of change so that new technology actually changes how teams work.

Welcome to your course on Leading Digital Transformation!
This course is designed for leaders, managers, project leads, and ICT staff across Africa who are planning, leading, or supporting a digital transformation. Most transformations fail not because the technology was wrong, but because the human side was treated as an afterthought: new tools were bolted onto old habits, and the people expected to use them were never brought along. This course flips that around. It treats transformation as something led through people, grounding every technology decision in the communication, collaboration, and leadership that actually make change stick.
The curriculum introduces what digital transformation really is and its four types, then names the seven soft skills that leaders and teams need to carry change through. You will then learn to match a leadership style to the transformation and manage the change in a controlled, safe way, before turning to how you foster a culture of innovation and a growth mindset that lets transformation take hold. A pre and post situational-judgement self-check and an applied project anchor the learning in your own context.
By mastering these concepts, you will be equipped to lead a digital transformation through its human side, choose a leadership approach that fits your team, and put a concrete management technique to work in your own organisation.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Explain what digital transformation is, its four types, and why it is far more than adopting new tools.
- Identify the seven soft skills that leaders and teams need to make digital change work.
- Match a leadership style to a transformation and manage the change in a controlled, safe way.
- Apply a chosen management technique to your own context to foster a culture of innovation and a growth mindset.
Who is this course for?
This course is designed for leaders, managers, project leads, and ICT staff across Africa. It is highly beneficial for individuals who are:
- Planning, leading, or sponsoring a digital transformation in their organisation.
- Responsible for managing change, building teams, or shaping organisational culture.
- Supporting transformation as a project lead or ICT specialist and want to strengthen the human side.
